Clinical Supervision

Clinical supervision is a structured, professional relationship in which an experienced, qualified supervisor helps a substance abuse counselor improve their clinical skills, ethical practices and professional identify while ensuring clients and patients receive safe and effective care.  It is one of the most important tools for counselor growth & development, especially in substance use disorder  (SUD) Treatment.

In substance abuse counseling, supervision is especially important because clients often present with complex issues such as addiction, trauma, co-occurring mental health disorders, relapse, and crisis situations.

 Clinical supervision typically includes:

  • Regular, Scheduled Meetings (weekly, biweekly, monthly )

  • Case Conceptualization Review & Discussion (treatment plans, progress notes, interventions & Exam Prep! )

  • Counselor Growth & Professional Development

  • Review of NAADAC Code of Ethics
